Our Story

For the parents that know the moment is coming to say goodbye to your little one's soother, and you want to do it in a way that doesn't break both your hearts.

We're Krislyn (Kay) and Tansey, sisters and co-founders of House of Hayes, featuring Hayes Comfort Crew. We built this for that moment. And we're so glad you found us.

The Hayes Behind It All - Kay's Story

When my son Jack was born in 2021, we chose to give him a soother, and like so many parents know, we watched it become more than that. It became a comfort companion.

When the time came to think about weaning him off it, I didn't just want to distract him from the loss. I wanted to bring him joy. Something we could do together, on our own time, in the comfort of our home. I searched for something that felt right and came up empty. So I started imagining it instead.

I shared the idea with my sister Tansey, and together, we decided to create it.

What followed were three years of careful, intentional work - sourcing materials, testing, and refining every single detail until it matched the vision we'd held from the very beginning.

Jack has loved fire trucks since before he could talk. So with his help, Bravy was born - a fire truck companion with a zippered pocket, and a purpose. Alongside him, we wrote a story to guide the soother transition. One that would soon become our own true story.

We let Jack choose the day he wanted to say goodbye to his soother to give him ownership of the moment from the start. In the nights leading up to it, I read him the story with Bravy beside us. Then, a few days before we'd planned, Jack looked at me and said he was ready. He wanted to give his soother to Bravy that night.

In the moment, I wasn’t sure I was quite emotionally ready. I hadn't expected it to happen sooner than planned. But Bravy was right there, and Jack felt ready. And that made all the difference.

So we did it together, as a family, that night. We thanked his soother for all the comfort it had given him. We placed it into Bravy's pocket, zipped it closed, and just like that - Jack had joined the Hayes Comfort Crew.

Honestly - I was holding my breath for what felt like all night. But he fell asleep. And when he woke in the middle of the night and reached for his soother, I handed him Bravy and he drifted back to sleep.

He asked about his soother a few more times that week. And, I gently reminded him that Bravy has it safe and sound and Bravy is here for cuddles or play whenever he wants.

To my surprise, there were no tears. No struggle. Just a peaceful, unmistakable sense of brave pride on Jack’s part. A milestone he owned and couldn’t wait to share with everyone.

After that moment Tansey and I knew that if this worked for Jack, it could work for other families too.

Why Hayes?

Hayes Comfort Crew carries Jack's name because this was never just a product. Hayes is Jack's middle name and this company was built in love, for him, and for every child like him.

Jack was the heart of this from the beginning. He helped name Bravy, tested every part of the experience, and inspired everything we built. It only made sense that his name would be on it.

Where We Are Today

Our family still uses Hayes Comfort Crew companions every day. Sunny the Rainbow holds little notes for Jack at bedtime when we can't be there. Hugsy the Bear comes along on adventures, collecting tiny treasures along the way. What started as a transition tool became something our family keeps reaching for. Bravy is still bedside.

Our Promise to You
